Works on Paper

The direct accessiblility of drawing is ideal however the point of determining drawing not illustration presents a question. Does subjectivity in the work differentiate one from the other?

Some of these works are realized without expectation and others are pre-meditated. The devotion to the work varies from piece to piece. Folklore, myths, colloquialisms, puns, and details of Americana are reference points. Often these pieces are rendered on scrap or used pieces of paper accumulated in my studio. The re-use of old materials is inherited from my family who place great value on frugality.
